Our disciple makers often interact with Muslim women who are depressed, hopeless, and shamed.
When we look to the spiritual heritage of the Middle East today, we mostly think of Islam. Though there is a strong Church presence in some countries, the dominating religion of the Middle East is Islam by far. One of the most well known and renowned spiritual leaders of this region is Muhammad. The man who changed the religious face of the Middle East. But what is less known is that the Middle East has a rich Christian heritage as well that goes back to the early Church.
Who are we? GCM is the underground church in Middle East, nameless and faceless disciple makers that daily risk our lives to bring the Gospel to Muslims in some of the most dangerous regions of the earth. Here is a story that comes from one of our disciple makers to give you an inside look at the dangers we face to expand the Kingdom in restricted Islamic nations.
“GCM exists to transform Muslims worldwide through Jesus Christ…” That’s the beginning of our mission statement, and with more than 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, it’s a God-sized mission! But we are confident that “with God, nothing is impossible.” And GCM Disciple Makers are boldly going into new, highly restricted Muslim countries where being a believer in Christ is the most dangerous thing a person can be. But as one GCM Disciple Maker in a restricted country has found out … God is there already!
When Jesus was here on earth, He was very clear about His plan for spreading the message of His salvation to the world: through His followers. He made it a priority to spend time with his 12 apostles (or, “ones who are sent”), preparing them to be effective messengers of the Gospel. In the same way, GCM is dedicated to training former-Muslim believers around the world to be effective messengers of the Gospel to their families, communities, and nations.
