Recently, we visited a family who left Islam and recently came to the Lord. It was amazing to see the changes God has made in their lives in such a short time. In ordinary conversation, they talked about the upcoming “Easter Service” at their local church. The way they talked about it was as if it were a very special day- like a wedding or occasion that was at least this special.
What a realization, the excitement of these new believers in having a day to celebrate the resurrection, in a way that those of us in the West perhaps have grown accustom to as “normal”. Easter Sunday for us who have believed a long time, or even our whole life, can be just another Sunday morning. However, to those who have come out of Islam, Jesus’s resurrected life changed everything.
Most Muslims will tell you that Allah is not personal, he doesn’t speak or act on your behalf. He doesn’t answer you- he always remains silent. There is no life in Islam. Only death and darkness, which Jesus overcame on the cross.
Rightfully so, this excitement background Muslim believers have, should convict us in the West. We should regularly meditate on the cross, and the resurrection.
This Easter Sunday, let us keep before us the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Let us remember that this is what separates us from every other false religion- we are filled with life. We carry this life in us- the light of God to all men, because He lives.
Because He lives, we should be living bright lives. We encourage you as you fellowship at your local church this Sunday to really thank the Father for the cross. To really meditate on the life we have recieved through the resurrected Christ. The world has problems- and you carry the answer.
