In the Kingdom of Heaven, we live according to the law of love. As believers, we seek to serve one another humbly in love regardless of race, social status, or gender. But the kingdoms of this world do not operate by the same framework. One such country is Afghanistan, which is said to specifically be one of the worst places in the world to be born a woman. This look into some of the darker points of Afghanistan is not meant to be a criticism of the nation, but is rather intended as a means of raising awareness and prayer.
Afghanistan is number two on the world watch list as the most dangerous places to live as a Christian. Much of the danger however is not solely related to hatred for Christians. Afghanistan is a violent place for anyone who lives there. Whether you are Muslim or Christian, man, woman or child. The country is volatile due to the war raging within its own structures.
We pray for Afghanistan not only for God's protection of Christians, but also for His protection of the people of Afghanistan. These are a noble and proud people, created in the image of God and their lives are worth saving. They understand more than most people in the West what it means to be “more than an individual, what it means to be part of something bigger”. As believers we are more than individual Christian people, we are part of the world wide Church. We need more Afghan brothers and sister in the faith partly because we have so much that we need to learn from them. Join us in prayer for the people of Afghanistan those who are part of the world wide Church, and those who will be.
